Accountants in Penrith

Judge Accountants is a chartered accounting firm on Belmore Street, a few minutes’ walk from Penrith station. Most people who call us are in one of four spots: starting a business and not sure what it should cost or how to set it up, running a new business with software that isn’t reconciled, unhappy with an accountant who doesn’t call back, or ready to grow and getting no advice on how. We publish our fees, you deal with the same accountant every year, and we explain things until they make sense.

Where you might be right now

About to start a business

You don’t know what you don’t know: what it costs to set up, whether you need a company or can trade as a sole trader, what the ATO and ASIC will expect of you. Our first meeting covers all of it, and the setup is a fixed fee.

New business, software you don’t understand

Xero isn’t reconciled, or you’re still working from a bank statement and a notebook. We set Xero up properly, reconcile it, and either teach you to keep it that way or do the bookkeeping for you from $90 + GST a week.

Thinking of buying a business

How much should you pay, is it a smart decision, and what’s the risk? We review the numbers before you sign and tell you plainly.

Business advisory →

Unhappy with your current accountant

They don’t return calls, they don’t explain, you explain your situation to a different person each time, the bill is a surprise, and there’s an ATO debt you weren’t told about. Switching is free and we handle the handover.

Ready to grow

You’ve got a business that works and nobody is telling you what to do next. The On Track and Growth packages put a quarterly or monthly meeting with an advisor in the diary, with real management reports to talk about.

Business tax packages →

Want control of your super

An SMSF for people who want to choose their own investments, including business premises, with setup, accounts, audit and tax from $295 + GST a month.

What’s different about Judge

You know the price first.

We’ve published our fees since 2014. Every package is on our pricing page, there’s no hourly meter, and there’s no surprise invoice for a phone call.

A real tax planning meeting, every year.

Not a phone call in July about the year that’s gone. A sit-down before 30 June, with your actual numbers modelled, a written plan, and decisions on super, assets, distributions and dividends while there’s still time to act.

We take the time to make it make sense.

Advice comes with the reasoning, in plain English, so you understand your own tax, your own financials and your own business. If you’ve felt talked down to by an accountant before, that doesn’t happen here.

The same accountant, every year.

You’re assigned to one of our chartered accountants and you keep them. You won’t explain your business from scratch to a new person each July.

No ATO surprises.

The first thing we do for a new client is pull your ATO accounts and tell you exactly where you stand, including any debt you didn’t know about, and set up a plan for it.

Lending and financial planning under the same roof.

Judge Lending and Clarity Wealth sit in the same office, so the accountant who knows your numbers is in the room when you’re buying a property, refinancing or planning retirement.

Technology that saves you time, not ours.

Xero Platinum Partner, a client portal for documents and signatures, bank feeds, and automated reminders so nothing waits on a letter in the post.

We’ve been in Penrith a long time.

Llewellyn Judge opened the Penrith practice in 1982. His son Barclay took it over in 2014, after ten years at Nexia in Sydney where he ran the superannuation division, and renamed it Judge Accountants. More than forty years on, it’s still a Penrith firm run by the family.

Who we work with

Trades and construction, healthcare and allied health, transport and logistics, hospitality, retail, family businesses and property investors across Penrith, Glenmore Park, Jamisontown, Kingswood, Cranebrook, Emu Plains, Leonay, Orchard Hills, Caddens, Jordan Springs, Cambridge Park, Werrington, St Clair, St Marys and the Nepean and Blue Mountains. Clients further afield work with us by phone, video and the client portal.

How it works

  1. Book a free consultation, up to an hour, in the office or by video. Bring last year’s return and your current software login if you have one.
  2. We quote a fixed fee and send an engagement letter the same week.
  3. We set up or tidy up your software and take over lodgements with the ATO.
  4. We meet before 30 June every year to plan the tax year ahead.

What clients say

“The team at Judge Accountants is simply exceptional. They've helped us start and run our business, buy our next family home, sort out our tax returns and everything in between. We trust Judge Accountants with every financial endeavour.”

James Moloney, Director, Anomolous Pty Ltd

“Love working with Judge Accountants. As a sole trader, it's important to find an accountant that can work with you as part of your team to help you grow. They've been very patient with me, teaching me how to use Xero, and they're proactive rather than old-school reactive.”

Anne Barratt, Empowering Health

“Judge Accountants has been providing my family and business with tax advice for 30 years. This family business has always provided honest quality advice.”

Ross Curran, Ross Electrics

“The team is honest, accurate and understanding. My personal situation was quite complex; however, I was extremely satisfied with their advice and ability to explain issues clearly and concisely. I left their office in a much better position than where I started.”

Daniel Allam, Penrith
