About us

A Penrith family firm since 1982

Llewellyn Judge opened his Penrith accounting practice in 1982. His son Barclay took it over in 2014, renamed it Judge Accountants, and set out to build the kind of firm he’d want as a client: published prices, real advice, and accountants who explain things properly.

Our story

For more than thirty years, Llewellyn looked after Penrith families and businesses, some of whom are still clients today. When Barclay joined in 2014, he brought more than ten years at Nexia Sydney, one of Australia’s leading accounting networks, where he worked in business services and tax, spent time on secondment auditing hedge funds in New York, and then set up and ran Nexia’s superannuation division.

He renamed the practice Judge Accountants and changed how it worked. Fees were published on the website, so people knew the price before they called. Every business package got a tax planning meeting before 30 June. Clients were assigned one accountant to keep. And the firm went all in on Xero and online tools, becoming a Xero Platinum Partner.

Today Judge Accountants has offices in Penrith and Richmond, a team of chartered accountants, and financial planning through Clarity Wealth and lending through Judge Lending in the same building, so clients can get tax, super, investment and loan advice that fits together.

How we work

Prices you can see

We’ve published our fees since 2014. Fixed monthly packages, no hourly meter, and no invoice for picking up the phone.

A planning meeting every year

A sit-down before 30 June with your numbers modelled, so decisions get made while there’s still time to act.

Time to explain

We take the time to help you understand your tax, your financials and your business. You’ll be taken seriously, whatever your situation.

The same accountant

You keep the chartered accountant you’re assigned, so you never start from scratch with someone new.

Planning and lending in-house

Clarity Wealth and Judge Lending work in the same building, so advice on super, investments and loans starts from the same numbers.

Technology that helps

Xero Platinum Partner, a client portal, electronic signing and bank feeds, so most things can be done without a trip to the office.

“The team at Judge Accountants is simply exceptional. They've helped us start and run our business, buy our next family home, sort out our tax returns and everything in between. We trust Judge Accountants with every financial endeavour.”

James Moloney, Director, Anomolous Pty Ltd

“Love working with Judge Accountants. As a sole trader, it's important to find an accountant that can work with you as part of your team to help you grow. They've been very patient with me, teaching me how to use Xero, and they're proactive rather than old-school reactive.”

Anne Barratt, Empowering Health

“Judge Accountants has been providing my family and business with tax advice for 30 years. This family business has always provided honest quality advice.”

Ross Curran, Ross Electrics

“The team is honest, accurate and understanding. My personal situation was quite complex; however, I was extremely satisfied with their advice and ability to explain issues clearly and concisely. I left their office in a much better position than where I started.”
